Clarins – Daily Energisers

Clarins Daily Energisers

Skin in winter needs to be looked after even more so, due to all sorts of severe conditions battering it. Wind, rain, cold and central heating can lead to dry, dull and generally unhappy skin. So how about investing in something that could solve all of these problems?

For Christmas last year my Mum bought me the cleanser, toner and moisturiser from the Clarins Daily Energisers range. I decided that rather than relegating all my slightly less fancy items to the back of my product drawer, I would put away the beautiful Clarins products and use ALL my remaining face lotions and potions before starting on the complete set of new products. The fact that nearly a year later I am ready to use them proves what a hoarder I truly am…

The market of premium skincare ranges for younger skin is not exactly overwhelmed so Clarins decided to do something about this by, last year, launching a range of skincare for 18 to late 20 something skin. The products claim to create a clearer, softer and smoother complexion.

I have previously used samples of products in this range over shorter periods, not altogether and found they felt lovely individually. Now we will see what happens when all three are used together!

So from tomorrow my new regime begins and here’s to hoping for brighter, more refreshed looking skin! I do have a bad feeling that this could be the start of a very expensive habit.. But as my Mum always says you must look after your skin, and take my word for it, my Mum has fantastic skin!

Are there any premium wonder products you swear by for a little luxurious pick me up? I would love to hear!

Sweetness and Charm

Fawn and Rose is an independent boutique based in Brighton which sells the most gorgeous handmade jewellery.

Their store on Etsy has some lovely pieces, especially in gorgeous pastel, candy colours, perfect for brightening up these dreary October days!

I was introduced to the brand by another blog offering a 10% discount and thought I would give it a try. What I found online were unique, handmade pieces. I bought a lovely necklace, with a black and white chevron style pendent. It was sent in the cutest packaging, wrapped in tissue paper and stuck down with a little heart! If there’s one thing I love it is the little touches such as these to make your purchase feel extra special. Always an added bonus!

Unfortunately my necklace is no longer available online but here are some more goodies from their online store all priced from £12-£16!

Now if you sign up to their mailing list you will receive 10% discount! What’s not to love?

Which is your favourite? I think I love them all, find them here.

(Nail) Art Attack

The beauty world is embracing the new 3D style manicures and who can blame them.

Last week saw the 2012 Emmy Awards, in LA where Kelly Osbourne, was spotted with a manicure worth a whopping £250,000, made of black diamonds! Perhaps taking things a little too far considering that could buy a decent sized house! Obviously this look created quite a backlash.

But, on a lighter note, what about trying some styles which won’t cost you an arm and a leg?

One brand at the forefront of nail art design innovation is Ciaté. After the Caviar manicure, they are now launching the velvet manicure. I’m not too sure what I think of the velvet manicure. I do love the look of the Berry Poncho shade, shown below. But think it looks to be a huge effort to use, a bit fiddly and as someone who struggles to sit still for too long it could be disatrous.

The jury is still out on this one.. What do you think of the velvet manicure? Have you tried it?

Skin Art, last month launched their range of nail transfers, which work like a temporary tattoo! Each set is priced at £5.99 which is great considering you get 60 individual stickers in cute designs. With a nude base coat I think these transfers will really stand out, either used on all fingers or as detail for an accent nail. Just remember to apply a topcoat to make them last even longer!

The website is currently offering free UK delivery with the code SKINARTFREE, I will be ordering a pack for myself to try, will let you know how it goes! Buy them here.

To see more incredible nail art you need to check out Sophy Robson’s ‘NailPorn’ team’s Tumblr, which you can do here. Sophy and her team course responsible for decorating the nails of all the amazing athletes at the 2012 London Olympics, where they set up a pop up shop for the duration of the games. Even Boris Johson was spotted popping in for a file!

Not only does Sophy work with Olympians but also works with the hottest brands around, most recently at London SS13 fashion week including House of Holland and Acne and in a collaboration with Chanel.

Here are a few of my favourite looks;

All this adds up to Sophy being the hottest nail artist (not too sure this a real word?!) around! Check out her Twitter and Tumblr for more.

Which looks are your favourite? And which will you be trying?

I Love Lucy

Lucy Rose released her new album, Like I Used To on Monday and of course it is lovely. I have been a fan of hers since last year after hearing Middle of The Bed. Her voice is beautiful, definitely worth a listen if you haven’t already.

And after seeing her live at Heaven, Charing Cross a few months gone by I was even more eagerly awaiting the arrival of the album. The fact her voice is just as good, if not better live is testament to what an incredible artist she is!

Make A Statement

Embrace winters hottest accessory, the chunky, statement necklace! The best thing about a bold piece is its power to completely transform an outfit, from dull to dazzling in a flash.

Here are a few gorgeous pieces;

1. Astrid and Miyu – Queen Bee Necklace £170. The chunky gold chain on this necklace has a lovely matte finish which tones down the blinginess of the crystal flowers. Trust me, it has to be seen to be believed! Check out their website here for gorgeous, individual pieces you won’t find on the high street. Try with this seasons black lace for a glamourous evening look.

2. Zara –  Necklace with Chains, Rope and Coloured Stones £19.99.  Zara has to be one of, if not my absolute favourite high street store. Their recent venture into jewellery has been going from strength to strength with incredible standout pieces. Worn with a printed tshirt and denim shorts this necklace would really create an impact.

3. Blu Bijoux – Tube Link Neon Necklace £24. Neons are the perfect way to brighten up an outfit and this necklace comes in 3 colours, Flourescent Yellow, Neon Green and Hot Pink. Snap them all up before they sell out and show off the last hint of a summer tan!

4. Stella & Dot – Olivia Bib Necklace £95Try this necklace with a striped top in navy to contrast the two colours and make the design really standout!

5. ASOS – Collar Necklace with Bug Detail £18This necklace is amazing! I never would have thought I could want a necklace with bug detailing so much. Embracing AW12’s Woodland trend theme, where all things wildlife rule, this necklace looks far more expensive than it’s £18 price tag. The only way to wear this would be dressed up with a crisp white shirt, tucked underneath the collar.

6. Celliana – Gold Spike, Skull and Diamante Necklace £16. A perk of my job is getting to see some of our clients pieces before they are available to buy! This necklace from Celliana’s AW collection has all the detailing to satisfy your darkest desires with gothic accents. Toughen it up even further with a leather biker jacket.

I, for one, will be wearing my statement necklace casually with a simple tshirt, jeans and a blazer. How will you be wearing yours? Are there any lovely statement necklaces you have found? If so let me know, would love to hear 🙂

Owl Be There

Owls have been cropping up all over the place since they were introduced at the Burberry Prorsum AW12 show, either as beaded embellishments, stitched or printed on knitwear and tees and as statement accents on bags, .

My favourite piece of the collection is the cashmere Owl sweater. I am a huge fan of a knitted jumper! I am sure they will begin to feature more heavily throughout this blog even more so as the weather gets colder.

Burerry Prorsum Owl Knit

This jumper is the perfect mix of casual and cool, and is styled to perfection by the ever-stylish Kate Bosworth below, in head to toe Burberry, of course.

It was only a matter of time before the High Street got on board with this trend and whilst my budget certainly won’t cover the cost of the above, here are my picks of all things owl related to suit all kinds of budget.

Items are mentioned anti-clockwise from top left.

1. Earrings by Accessorize £6. I would be intrigued to see how big these earrings actually are, but what girl can’t resist some sparkle!

2. Bag by ASOS £32. This bag is gorgeous, it also comes in black. However this colour is really amazing and what sets it apart. With the owl detail,  the oxblood colour and the bowling bag shape, this bag really does have it all and shoots straight to the top of my wishlist.

3. I do love a novelty item of clothing, mainly in sock form. If it has the face of an animal, I tend to own it. Another favourite item of mine is mittens! Thanks to my brother for buying me a pair for Christmas last year, I am fully converted. Combine these two together and tah-dah, you have novelty mittens! These are £6 from Next, and are ridiculously cute.

4. We can’t have a feature on owls without a piece of Burberry Prorsum, the brand that started it all! Of course if you are planning on buying this clutch bag it will set you back an eyewatering £895. Although that doesn’t stop it from being very pretty to look at!

5. I’m not sure whether I think this looks more like a bear/tiger… but apparently it is an owl so let’s roll with that! Despite being unsure of its species this is my fave of all the owl jumpers out there, looks so nice and warm and is currently in the sale on ASOS, only £28 here.

3. This Pandora charm is the epitome of cuteness and a lovely subtle way to show off the trend! At £25 for a silver charm seems like money well spent.

7. This Lavish Alice jumper is a great catwalk copy of the Burberry jumper. Great thing is it is £15 and looks incredibly cosy and warm!

Don’t OWL away this winter, snap up one of these lovelies.

Lavish Alice

I do love internet shopping, always partial to a quick browse on

However I have recently discovered, an online fashion retailer which does on trend clothing at great prices, most exciting for me, an amazing range of midi dresses. At 5ft2 and a bit, (that extra bit does make a difference..!), I am probably someone who should NOT be wearing the midi but after seeing this gorgeous black and orange print dress, I am determined to give it a try. Oh and another thing, it is an absolute bargain at £15!

The midi dress could be the answer to all your mid season worries, on warm Autumn days it would look great worn with a denim jacket and a stack of serious arm candy. Get some arm stacking inspiration and major jewellery envy here – Also visit Astrid and Miyu ( for more beautiful inspiration, a post to come in future about this lovely jewellery brand!

And as the cold approaches, this dress would look fab with thick black tights, ankle boots and a leather jacket.

A multi-functional dress, in an incredible print at only £15, is this too good to be true?

New Product – Revlon PhotoReady Concealer

Revlon PhotoReady Concealer

If you’re in the market for a new concealer I would highly recommend Revlon’s new PhotoReady concealer.

Claiming to give a “flawless, airbrushed appearance” I thought I would try it out, especially when it was on offer, it would have been rude not to!!

I don’t tend to go for stick concealers, usually finding they are too thick and appear slightly cakey on the skin. I prefer to go for a product with a creamy consistency for blemishes and a liquid for brightening the under eye area. This Revlon concealer appears to be an exception to this rule which goes on with a lovely smooth, weightless feel. After trying this I am keen to try other items in the range, including the primer and sculpting blusher pallet (not available in the UK…yet).

Which brings me on to further concealer issues…

Despite not being Kim Kardashian’s biggest fan, I must admit her make-up does always look beautifully flawless. The recent photos tweeted by the star whilst having her make-up applied by renowned make-up artist, Scott Barnes, gave an insight into how she gets such a perfect finished look.

Kim Kaked in Koncealer (original caption I know!)

With my new concealer in hand I thought I would give contouring a try…. It felt strange applying so much, I did feel like a absolute wally during application but once foundation was blended on top it did seem to make a difference, luckily the Revlon concealer feeling so light it didn’t feel heavy on my skin.

As I tend to favour a more natural look when it comes to applying foundation I think this heavy handed approach will have to be saved for nights out!
